Why: Outwardly, you may or may not swell up during or post flight, everyone’s body is different. However, compression socks help with what’s happening on the inside. From personal experience, they can help to lower your chances of getting blood clots, which are scary AF.
The short of it is that they improve your blood flow, lessen pain and swelling in your legs and help circumvent other circulation problems. It makes sense that these can be good for sports, during pregnancy, for people who stand all day at work or post-surgery.
You want them tight, so sometimes they are hard to get on and off (read: be wary if you have a manicure you’d like to keep in tact) but I feel comforted in the fact that I’m protecting myself before and after flying.
